Therapy & Interventions
Gray Area offers a range of therapy & interventions to individuals and families to target the social, emotional, behavioral, academic, and communication needs of children. Types of therapy and interventions can be found below, however, this list is not exhaustive.
Gray Area offers a range of therapy & interventions:
- Positive psychology, strengths-based, eclectic approach
- Can be utilized to target social, emotional, behavioral, and academic areas
- Specific goals would be developed based on individual needs
- Collaboration with parents, professionals, and school staff regarding a student’s needs, services, and access to supports
- Help families become connected to resources in and out of Gray Area
- Can be explored should multiple individuals show similar needs
- Families can indicate their interest in participating
- Lessons targeting specific needs through role-play, modeling, games, and other modalities
- Utilized when individuals have reached a level where group application of skills is the next step
- Configuration of groups depends on those involved
- Families can indicate their interest in participating
- Helps students develop skills related to executive functioning (e.g., planning, organizing, managing time)
- Behavior is modeled and individuals receive assistance applying skills before doing so independently
- Regular progress monitoring as well as review of areas of strength and difficulty
- Rendered by a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist or Speech-Language Pathology Assistant
- Therapy and interventions, although not exclusive to: speech sound production (e.g. Phonological Processes, Apraxia of Speech), expressive/receptive language, social communication, spoken and written language (reading and literacy), cognitive-communication (e.g. problem solving, memory), speech fluency, feeding skills/mealtime behaviors
- Counseling related to education, guidance, and support of individuals and families adjusting to communication related challenges and interventions
