Amanda Gray, Psychologist

Dr. Amanda Gray, licensed psychologist (LP) and licensed specialist in school psychology (LSSP), earned her Ph.D. in School Psychology from Texas Woman’s University (TWU) in Denton and her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin (UT).

She completed her predoctoral internship at a consortium between Lake Dallas Independent School District (ISD) and Dr. Kathy DeOrnellas’ private practice under the supervision of Drs. Vicki Hainlen, Gwen Carter, and Kathy DeOrnellas. Dr. Gray’s postdoctoral fellowship was under the supervision of Dr. Kristen E. Wilson in Frisco ISD.

Since 2014, Dr. Gray has been working as a Licensed School Psychologist (LSSP) in Lake Dallas, Frisco and Anna ISD’s. She has experience within and outside of public and private schools, hospitals, and counseling centers, establishing a wide network of professionals to assist parents with finding resources. As an LP and LSSP, Dr. Gray has built a foundation of experience working in schools as well as independently and she has completed evaluations compatible with diagnostic and Special Education eligibility criteria. She has a deep understanding of Special Education, Section 504, and Response to Intervention (RTI) practices, legal regulations, and community resources.

Dr. Gray has significant experience with advocates and has a thorough understanding of Special Education due process procedures. She is knowledgeable in legal regulations regarding discipline of students with disabilities and was the Autism Team lead for Frisco ISD and Anna ISD. During Dr. Gray’s time as an LSSP, she was Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition (ADOS-2) trained allowing parents to use evaluations for insurance to approve and cover Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy.

Her experiences also include dealing with significant behavioral and emotional challenges and serving as a member of the crisis intervention team in Frisco ISD for complex cases. Dr. Gray is also skilled in the administration and communication of risk assessments. While she is not licensed to prescribe medications, she does have significant understanding of psychotropic medications, particularly Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), anxiety, depression, mood stabilization, and antipsychotic medications.
